anyone else a big Black Sails fan? (SPOILs) just found this last week, and
watched about an episode+ per nite; since.
LOVEs me some period pieces.
And for it's production/budgetary formatting?
This one scores pretty seriously when accounting for that.
The Nassau/inland scenes/scenery, the one real ship
they actually chiseled/built. Epic costuming. In
particular for the wimminz from that era.
Perfect lighting or incandescence.
Ditto the 17th Cent. swarthy
music in the background.
Then 2-3 near visual she stunners dot this cast gents.
And although they will play anyone and everyone around them;
they do not exactly play hard to get(s). Plural. Quite. Even, very.
Now mix in some very real and sometime very shiny and/or
truly (bleeped) up historical characters, with pretty dang
sharp casting, and you kinda, sorta, have a little real
live Sid Meyer's version of Pirates on the small
screen.
And although I can't quite say this is officially a great
Caribbean 1600's series, I can say it is pretty damn solid.
And it has a very roguish, lascivious, untamed and
unkempt wild cur type of undercurrent that refuses
any domestication and surely that drags you right on, in.
2 thumbs and 1 rum, up!
